Position Description: The Salmi Curatorial Fellowship has been established in honor of Richmond Art Center Founder, Hazel Salmi. She was dedicated to bringing art into the Richmond Community. Through her passion for art education, she laid the groundwork for our exhibitions and educational programs seventy years ago.
We are seeking individuals interested in a career in gallery/exhibition management to provide support for the Richmond Art Center’s Exhibitions Department. Duties include assisting with all aspects of gallery and exhibitions administration, maintenance, and coordination. This position provides the opportunity to learn about the development of exhibitions, meet artists and help organize shows. The Richmond Art Center is an internationally recognized exhibition venue that has four distinct gallery spaces through the large center.
Select readings in curatorial studies will support onsite work and periodic dialogue with the Executive Director will take place. Minimum commitment of three days (20 hours total) required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Writing skills
• Attention to detail
• Courtesy, tact and diplomacy in working with the public and staff
• Mac (word, XL) proficient
