Returning students can work on individual projects, review techniques and experiment with image development. Demonstrations weekly. Ink and paper not included. Supply list available. Calling all Material People! We'll learn basic screen-printing techniques with a focus on fabric. Add new dimensions to your quilts, print T-shirts for the family, create unique scarves, linens, button covers, ribbons, floor cloths - the possibilities are endless. The class will be tailored to individuals interests. Bring ideas and images to the first class. Supply list available. Class is also suitable for those wishing to print on paper.

beyond the classroom screen printing 
Take advantage of the Center's well-equipped screen print facility to work on your own projects. Students may use the studio during the hours listed for a maximum of 3 hours per week. Prerequisite: Must have have taken screen print class at RAC in the last year and/or have previous screen printing experience and approval of RAC instructor. See drop-in policy for restrictions.

Feb 26 Emory Douglas - poster protest
"Artists are here to disturb the peace" wrote James Baldwin and thats what the images created by Emory Douglas are known for. The former Minister of Culture for the Black Panthers will return to RAC to present an overview of his artwork of political protest spanning 40 years. He will engage in a discussion about the current political landscape and its effects on work created by artists today. The work of Emory Douglas is exhibited throughout the world, most recently in England, New Zealand and at the New Museum of Contemporary Art in NYC and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles.

Students enrolled in classes W1S W2S are entitled to 3 additional hours of studio time each week during scheduled supervised open studio hours. Students may use the studio only when safety supervision is provided and must sign in upon arrival at the studio. Studio time by appointment to be arranged with instructor.
