Do you like making art about important issues? Explore environmental awareness, develop technical skills and have fun. Use found and recycled objects and traditional materials, such as clay, paint and collage. Exhibition on last day.

Spring will guide our exploration of nature with environmentally-based assignments. We will make a clay miniature birdhouse, rainproof plant markers for the garden, wind chimes, a driftwood-clay garden art mobile and nature tiles using found materials. Paint with glaze and fired in the kiln completes the ceramic process.

Celebrate spring in the childrens art studio! Using a variety of media, including paint, clay, markers, colored pencils and collage, young artists explore and create flowers, birds, insects, trees and express the glorious changes of the season. An art show will present their rainbow of work on the last day and will end with a group planting of inspirational flowers in the RAC courtyard.

Design cool creations from clothes in your closet! Use images from RACs collection and your own designs to create unique, personalized clothing. Bring a black & white drawing, photo or xerox with you to the first class. Basic techniques covered. Screen prep Day One. Days Two and Three will focus on printing. Repetition, patterning and layering of color will be used to get rich built up surfaces. Inks included. Students provide the clothes and inspiration.

Please note:
For all children's classes, we encourage you to enroll early so that we may have an accurate student count one week prior to the start of classes. We can then create a waiting list for classes that have reached their capacity or give families more notice if a class must be cancelled due to low enrollment. Security rules require that parents come into the Art Center to drop off and pick up children.
