SUMMER ART CAMP 2010
Make art and new friends while learning about different cultural art forms, developing skills and creating projects that stimulate the imagination. Painting, drawing, collage, printmaking, clay, construction, crafts and more! Small classes, artist teachers and an exciting, creative atmosphere will make art the highlight of your child's summer.

In this special four-week class, children will experience the joy of creating by trying their hand at a wide variety of art experiences such as acrylic painting, collage, clay sculpture, puppet-making and printmaking. Using modern and traditional art materials, students will create both 2-D and 3-D artwork. The emphasis is on originality, having fun while learning fine art skills and building self-esteem through accomplishment.

Joyce Shon & Kiki Rostad (ages 11 18)
Design cool creations from clothes in your closet! Use images from RACs collection and your own designs to create unique, personalized clothing. Bring a black & white drawing, photo or xerox with you to the first class. Basic techniques covered. Screen prep Day One. Days Two and Three will focus on printing. Repetition, patterning and layering of color will be used to get rich built-up surfaces. Inks included. Students provide the clothes and inspiration.

Got an idea for a thrilling ride? Using a variety of 2-D and 3-D media including colored pencils, pastels, paint, clay, wire and matboard art, students will design their own original roller coasters and an amusement park to house them. Imaginative thinkers encouraged to enroll.

Lisa di Prima (for ages 8 - 16)
Have fun creating your own original characters and caricatures, inventing imaginary heroes, heroines, villains & creatures. Design "surprise panels" and "zoom" drawings while learning a wide range of exciting cartooning techniques using drawing, painting and sculptural media.

If you love dogs, this mixed media class is for you. 2-D and 3-D projects will explore dog or your favorite animal in sculpture, dog/animal houses, dishes, sock and glove puppets and unique screen-printed T-shirts featuring your favorite furry friend. Clay, glaze, paint, fabric and printmaking will inspire our imaginations and canine creations. The focus is on fun and developing art skills.

teen pottery: wheel and hand
Kiki Rostad (ages 11 15)
Students will be introduced to the potters wheel and hand-building projects. Make mugs, brain bowls, plates, animal pockets, 3-D picture frames and more. The complete cycle of working with clay will be experienced including drying, firing and glazing. Students participate in set-up and clean up.

Art is a childs first language. Painting, drawing, pasting, sculpting, puppet-making and a loving, non-judgmental environment help foster creativity and original thinking in young artists. A little story begins each class and a little snack ends it.

Painting, drawing and sculpture develop perceptual and motor skills as young artists discover the magic and beauty of color and form. We will emphasize creativity, originality of ideas and the joy that making art can bring.

Lisa di Prima (ages 8 - 12)
Young artists explore a variety of media: tempera paints, oil and chalk pastels, watercolors, colored pencils, marking pens and clay. Children are enthusiastically encouraged to give free rein to their imaginations while having fun mastering basic fine art skills.
